Looking for our next Mad Scientist Volunteer! Interested? Borrow one of our EXPERIMENT BOOKS in the classroom, or check out this video and see what you think. REMEMBER; You MUST, MUST, MUST get your parents permission before becoming a Mad Scientist. Safety first!
Our first scientists this year wee Lily Avery, Rian Faery, Morgan Kurial and Lexi Seider. They built a POTENTIAL ENERGY CHAIN REACTION! It took nearly an hour to problem solve this tricky little bit of magic but they kept at it. Watch the slow-motion video and see how one KINETIC MOVEMENT leads to another. Wanna try it? I got LOTS of craft sticks!!!
What is a Mad Scientist Volunteer?
A Mad Scientist Volunteer is someone who loves science SO much that they even want to do science experiments at HOME!
How does it work?
You simply choose a science experiment and get started at home with help from mom or dad (or other adult).
Then what?
Record your experiment on video (usually using a phone or camcorder). Have fun with it! It should be not more than about 5 minutes - some are much shorter. Then send it in to me through my email, jump drive or have your parents call me and we'll set it up so that it gets to me somehow.
What happens after that?
After that we put it up on the class website and show it to your classmates. After that you'll probably be rich and famous and go viral and people will hound you for your autograph.
What experiments can I do?
You can choose one of the experiments listed below, or come up with your own. If you come up with your own run it by mom and dad first. If they give the okay, come in and tell me about it so I know what to expect!
Is it for a grade?
An experiment is always worth some extra credit! If you sign up to do one, I'll let you know how many points it will probably be worth before you start.
HERE's the first one of the year. See what you think . . .
